Padma Bhushan Zakir Hussain
The mere utter of the word Tabla would conjure the figure in our mind, the person with magical fingers, Zakir Hussain. The sexagenarian master of tabla was born on 9th March 1951 at Mumbai, Maharashtra in India. He is popular for Hindustani classical music, jazz fusion and world music and of course the music lovers would be aware of the fact the he is the founder of Bill Laswell’s World Music Supergroup Tabla Beat Science. He has also composed music for films and even acted in some of the documentary films such as Zakir and His Friends (1998) and the documentary The Sparking Hand: Zakir Hussain and the Art of the Indian Drum (2003).

Padmashri Suresh Wadkar
Suresh Ishwar Wadkar is an Indian playback singer. He performs in both Hindi and Marathi films. He has sung songs in some Bhojpuri films, Odia albums and bhajans and in Konkani films. In 1968, when Suresh Wadkar was 13, Jialal Vasant encouraged him to work towards the “Prabhakar” certificate offered by the Prayag Sangit Samiti, because it was equivalent to a Bed and qualifies the awardee to teach professionally. Wadkar successfully completed his “Prabhakar” and joined Arya Vidya Mandir in Mumbai as a music teacher.
